An incident that took place on Thursday near Los Angeles resulted in the death of two people and injured one.
According to police reports, the accident was caused by a driver who was taking part in an illegal street race when he lost control of his sports car and plowed into the crowd.
21-year-old Henry Gevorgyan was driving a gray Ford Mustang in Chatsworth. The incident took place at around 2:05 a.m. local time.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, two pedestrians were killed in the accident. One of the victims was identified as 26-year-old Eric Siguenza whereas the other remained unidentified. A third pedestrian suffered injuries and was taken to a local hospital where he was reported to be in stable condition.
The driver of the Ford Mustang fled the scene and did not stop to help any of the injured people. Police are searching for him. He will be facing murder charges according to the authorities.
Around 60 people were gathered to watch the early morning street race but they all dispersed by the time police arrived. Further information on the incident was not provided.
