CHULA VISTA – On Monday, a motorist died when his car veered off a South Bay freeway and crashed into a parked big rig.
The driver lost control of the 2000 Infiniti Q30 on northbound Interstate 805 in Chula Vista at about 8 a.m., said CHP. The reason behind the incident is not known yet.
The motor vehicle struck the back of a commercial vehicle just south of H Street, becoming wedged under its trailer and damaging its real axle.
The motorist died at the accident spot.
According to the CHP public-affairs Officer Sanchez, the identity of the motorist had not been confirmed as of Monday afternoon.
The accident caused heavy congestion in the area for many hours.
