A six-vehicle accident involving several big-rig trucks has left one man with life-threatening injuries and shut down a freeway east of Los Angeles for a short period of time.
According to California Highway Patrol Sgt. Ron Burch, 4 rigs and 2 other vehicles were involved in the accident which was reported shortly before noon on Wednesday on State Route 60 in Chino. He also said that one car was sandwiched between 2 trucks and a 65-year-old man had to be freed from the mangled wreckage. He sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to a hospital.
His condition is not known.
No other individual sustained injuries in the accident.
The freeway was closed so a helicopter could land, backing up traffic for several miles.
Investigators are looking for the reason of the accident.
