On Friday night, an individual who died in an accident along Highway 41 in southern Fresno County was identified as a teenager from Exeter.
The victim was identified by Fresno County Coroner’s Office as 19-year-old Tucker Barnett.
At about 9:30 p.m., the two-car accident occurred on Highway 41 just north of Harlan Avenue, almost 4 miles east of Riverdale. The accident happened when a 2004 Mitsubishi going southbound drifted into the northbound lane, striking a 2006 Ford, according to CHP.
California Highway Patrol also told that 19-year-old Chandler Souza of Tulare was travelling southbound when she allowed the Mitsubishi to drift into the northbound lane where she struck the Ford which 23-year-old Maria Martinez was driving.
Barnett was riding the Mitsubishi and was sitting in the left rear seat; he was not wearing a seatbelt.
The drivers of both cars sustained life-threatening injuries and 2 other 18-year-olds in the Mitsubishi sustained non-life threatening injuries.
According to CHP, alcohol or any other intoxication do not appear to be the cause of the accident.
